The CityLynx Gold Line runs street-level through Center City, French Street in Historic West End out to Sunnyside Avenue in Elizabeth. In this arcade version you take the operator's seat: brake into the platform window at every stop, then roll the signal blocks through the crossing traffic before the schedule clock dies. There's an 1891 mode, because Charlotte has run this pattern before.

The true story under the game

Charlotte's first streetcars were mule-drawn — the Charlotte Street Railway Co. started them in 1887. At 3:00 p.m. on May 18, 1891, the Four Cs' first electric car left Independence Square at Trade and Tryon for the brand-new suburb of Dilworth, and the electric system ran until March 14, 1938, when Car No. 85 made the final ceremonial run to the South Boulevard car barn and buses took over citywide. Seventy-seven years later the pattern reopened: the CityLynx Gold Line's 1.5-mile Phase 1 began service on July 14, 2015, averaging 1,507 daily trips in its first month, and Phase 2 opened on August 30, 2021, extending the line to French Street and Sunnyside Avenue.
