News

The dated layer of this guide: what changed in Charlotte, when, and how we know — each item linked to the places, events and eras it concerns. A restaurant opened. A place we list closed. The tram is gone and pedicabs replaced it.

This is not a newsroom and it is not trying to be one. We have no reporter and no scanner, we run no crime blotter and no obituaries, and we are days-late and correct rather than minutes-late and wrong. For actual local news, read the Charlotte Today-Dispatch and WBOC.

We publish when something changes, and at least twice a month. There is no daily edition and there is no wire — nothing here is breaking news, and nothing here is published before it is checked.

Paste this into any reader. There is no newsletter and no signup box — we have no way to send email yet, and a form that collects your address to do nothing with it is not a thing this guide will ship.

If you would rather have it as email, any of the free RSS-to-email bridges will do it. We are not recommending one — that would be endorsing a privacy policy we have not read.

Something on this page out of date, or something changed in town that we have missed? Tell us what changed. It goes to a person, not a queue.

Some items on this site carry a labelled ad. Buying a slot buys a labelled placement — it does not buy coverage, and it does not buy silence. Nothing filed under a closure, a safety notice, or history carries advertising at all. How the slots work.
