The Victor Cotton Mill opened in early 1889 on South Cedar Street under president G.E. Wilson and secretary-treasurer A.C. Hutchinson, with an initial capacity of 10,560 spindles; unlike the single-story Alpha and Ada mills, Victor was built taller, breaking from local mill-construction custom.
