    Emma Marie Taylor Warlick, wife of a White Citizens' Council officer, helped incite the crowd confronting Dorothy Counts outside Harding High School on her first day, instructing girls in the crowd to 'spit on her' and boys to 'keep her out'; witnesses reported rocks thrown at Counts' feet as students formed a jeering gauntlet that parted only to let her pass.
