The take
Plan before you go: village tours run by appointment through the historical society, not on drop-in hours. The fall Jubilee is the exception and the best time to come — the blacksmith shop and the rest of the buildings are actually at work.
Questions people ask
Can I just turn up and look round?
No — the village is open for tours by appointment only.
Worth knowing before driving out to Mint Hill: there is nothing to walk into unannounced.
