The take

Its gymnasium survived and today operates as Second Ward Gym, a Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation facility on the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center campus, with a basketball court and cycle studio open to the public on posted hours. An alumni-erected marker on East MLK Jr. Boulevard remembers the school itself.
