NC highway historical marker L-36 (cast 1957) reads: 'Colonial trading route, dating from the seventeenth century, from Petersburg, Virginia, to the Catawba Indians in Carolina, passed nearby.' The DNCR GIS database posts it at South Tryon Street at Morehead Street in Charlotte, 35.220966, -80.851004. It is one of a chain of Trading Path markers across the Piedmont (E-30, G-31/32/34/35, K-18/19/20/21, L-30/33/34/35/36/37).
