The take

Opened in 2009 on ground that was once Brooklyn, Charlotte's demolished Black neighborhood — the location is part of the argument. The archive runs deep, too: original copies of the 1880s Black newspaper the Charlotte Messenger are preserved here.

Adults $10; college students, educators, military and seniors $7; youth 6–17 $7; children 5 and under free. Members are always free.

Does general admission cover special exhibitions?

No — the Center states that admission does not include ticketed events or special exhibitions.

Where do I park?

The Levine Center for the Arts garage, entrance at 101 W. Brooklyn Village Avenue, with visitor parking on levels P1 and P2 across Tryon Street. Ask the Visitor Experience team for a discounted pass to use on the way out.
